DENTAL FILLINGS

Fillings

Fillings are used to repair part of the tooth because of tooth decay, fractures or general wear.

By visiting your dentist regularly, early decay can be spotted soon and replaced with a filling. Fillings are generally made from amalgam (metal fillings) or from composite which is a tooth coloured material giving a natural appearance. Fillings are carefully placed and sculptured so that you can bite and eat normally. Your dentist can advise on the best material to suit each situation.

Inlays and Onlays

If a tooth needs a larger repair then an Inlay or an Onlay may be a better choice. This is the preferred method when the tooth has suffered damage and cannot support a basic filling and the aim is to rebuild the shape of the tooth. They can be made from metal, composite or porcelain and provides a lasting protection to the tooth.
